| First plane ride back to Canada |
It has been 38 days since I left Honduras. There hasn't been a day where I don't wish I could go back.
I'm so very thankful for the opportunity to go to Honduras and see what God is doing there. I hope to go back soon and visit the special people I met.
Reverse-culture shock is real. Coming back at Christmas time was more difficult than I thought it would be. God definitely comforted me at that time and is still helping me go through certain things.
While being back I have been able to be involved in different ministries my church is involved in. I forgot how much I missed being involved in the community here in Belleville. God is working in so many peoples lives, and it's great to hear the stories of what He's done for them while I've been away.
Before coming back I was challenged to be more involved in the community and to find new ways of serving others outside of the church. I talked with my pastor and we thought it would be a great experience to volunteer in a elementary school here in Belleville. I had a meeting with the principle of the school and we agreed that I would work in a grade 3 classroom every Thursday! Honestly, I am completely excited. I'm excited for the experience and to see what God is going to do in that school.
There have been a lot of difficult times while being back, but God is still working. We aren't called to live comfortable lives and I believe that He is teaching and showing me this right now. Reading the book of James in the Bible has been challenging as well. A great reminder that faith without works is dead.* (James 2:26)
- Please pray for this opportunity I have to serve in a classroom; pray that I would be able to show love to the people I interact with and that they would see Christ through me.
- Please continue to pray for the people in Honduras; pray they would grow closer to Him in everything they do.
